4 Ways to Reheat your Postpartum Freezer Meals
Reheating is an important piece of your Restorative Roots postpartum freezer meals. Taking proper care will ensure that you get the delicious taste and texture.
The soups like chili, hearty sausage stew, and lentil stew defrost and come back to life very quickly. However, the grain-based dishes like our rice pudding, oatmeal, and creamy chicken will look a little lackluster after defrosting, but will come back to life. I promise!
Step one: Defrost your meals overnight in the refrigerator on a plate to catch any condensation.
1. STOVETOP
Add contents to a pot and reheat LOW and SLOW. Add additional splashes of liquid as needed, such as water, bone broth, or coconut milk depending on the dish. A lid to retain moisture is great as well. Taking your time to reheat low and slow will yield the best results.
2. MINI CROCKPOT / WARMING LUNCH BOX
I love this method because it is truly a set and forget, although it requires you to plan ahead a bit. A mini crockpot will take anywhere from 60–90 minutes, and the warming lunch box will take about 45–60 minutes due to its wider, more shallow shape. Times will vary depending on the dish, but this low reheat method will give great results.

3. VITACLAY CLAY SLOW COOKER
If you haven’t heard of the Vita Clay, it’s my new favorite kitchen appliance. It’s a slow cooker with a clay insert and is completely non-toxic. Because it’s clay, it also cooks faster than a traditional slow cooker. To reheat your leftovers, add a splash of liquid and your meal into the clay insert. Hit the stew button for 5–10 minutes. To get 10% off your Vita Clay, use code: ROOTS
4. INSTANT POT
Instant Pot has a super easy method for reheating leftovers. Simply add our meal to a glass, oven-safe dish. Place the dish on the trivet and add about a cup of water. Hit the steam function for five minutes and quick release.
