Wash and peel the sweet potato. Cut it into small cubes for faster cooking. Steam or boil the sweet potato cubes until they are soft and can be easily mashed with a fork. This will take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on the size of your cubes.
Gently mash the cooked sweet potato with a fork or potato masher. You can make it as smooth or as chunky as you like.
Pour in the coconut milk and stir it into the mashed sweet potato. The coconut milk adds a luscious creaminess and a touch of tropical flavor.
Drizzle date syrup over the mixture to sweeten it naturally. Adjust the amount according to your preferred level of sweetness. Date syrup also provides a rich caramel-like note.
Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the top. Cinnamon not only enhances the flavor but also adds a warming element, balancing the sweet potato’s cooling nature. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors and bring out the sweetness.
